Founded in 2000 by university classmates, Blue Zoo has organically grown to become one of the UK's leading character animation production studios. With an enviable client list and a shelf full of BAFTAs for their trademark CG character animation, they aim to produce joyfully compelling stories packed and full of character.

In September 2021, Blue Zoo animation achieved a significant milestone by becoming the world's first B Corp-certified independent animation studio. This accomplishment has propelled them forward in their mission to create impactful, beautiful animations while using art as a force for good.

Since the studio was born, Blue Zoo has always experimented and explored their way to success, not just for themselves but for the entire industry, from founding AnimationUK to helping run many progressive industry initiatives.

They strive to create a space filled with talented, happy artists crafting content they are genuinely proud of, routinely achieving over 95% staff and client satisfaction scores.




Studio Projects:

-"Let's not go away" (Blue Zoo Xmas Short):
In 2019, Blue Zoo turned to their new dedicated 2D animation studio who have created something very special., There was a blind pitch where the whole company was invited to pitch an idea for the music video to Scouting for Girl’s Christmas single. Specifically, the brief asked for an “odd couple.” Katie Gascoyne. won the blind pitch with a heart-warming pairing between Dan, a living gingerbread man, and his human girlfriend, Mandy.


-Super-super-supertato!:
Supertato on CBeebies is a 2D animated comedy adventure series for 4-6 year olds, based on the best-selling books by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet. This potato-extravaganza is the first show out the gate from the exciting collaboration between Plug-in Media and Blue Zoo, Brighton Zoo.


-Millie and Lou:
Millie and Lou is the preschool adventure YouTube Original show following young Millie and her best friend Lou. They share the magical forest with exciting creatures who are all based on global folklore stories. With a focus on friendship and acceptance, the show draws from creators Mandy Wong and Rory Cooke’s different childhood experiences.
