Seed Animation Studio

"We believe that character and story are the most powerful ingredients that engage an audience. These are what we create to entertain, educate and inspire."

Seed is a passionate award winning animation studio in Soho, London. Their creative treatment is stylised and playful, resulting in characterful and emotive animation for adverts, idents and short films. THeir work is diverse, covering a range of techniques and styles.

There are no limitations to technique at their studio - one project may favour an illustrative technique, while another may require puppetry, and then CGI for the next. Whatever way the project takes them, the two key ingredients of character and narrative remain their focus.

Studio Projects:

-Bob Marley - Three Little Birds:
When Three Little Birds was released in 1977 there wasn’t much desire for music videos. Roll on 43 years and Bob’s daughter, Cedella, asked Seed Animation if they would be interested in making a music video for release during her dad’s 75th birthday anniversary.Universal Music invited the studio to pitch on the track to be released on International Weed Day (420) to celebrate Bob’s Rastafarian roots. Directed by Morgan Powell, the film is set in a similar world to the well known tale ‘Three Little Pigs’ and features Little Pig, The Big Bad Wolf and Three Little Birds.

-Badoo (ad):
Sometimes good things come in short packages. Only 8 seconds in this case. Nonetheless, throw together a lovely design and palette and you get a warm and charming snippet of Badoo animation. Just what you need to woo that special someone on the other side of town, who doesn’t use a phone or email. Using Badoo‘s colour palette as the main driver for the illustration, the team got busy animating the world where every other thing in it is purple. The studio crafted each frame of this traditional 2D animation with almost as much love as the girl has for her mystery man.

-FatFace: "Where I Belong" (Ad for charity):
Seed Animation created a short animated film for lifestyle brand Fatface, to announce the launch of its festive campaign called ‘Where I Belong – A Stevie Story’. The campaign celebrates the feeling of joy and belonging that many associate with the festive period – whether this is found in the faces of friends and family, in old (and new) traditions or in a meaningful place or moment. FatFace believes that everyone deserves to find that place – whatever it may look like. The traditionally animated film follows Stevie the Sheep – the star of FatFace’s collaboration with Shelter, as he travels far and wide in search of a home, where he encounters new challenges and friendships along the way. The emotive film concludes with a powerful message that highlights the current housing crisis and everyone’s right to a home. 10% of each FatFace x Shelter item sold is donated to the charity.
