Lion Forge Entertainment is an Academy-award winning, Black-owned animation and live action studio focusing on diverse stories, authentically told.

Founded in 2019, LFE focuses primarily on the Kids & Family and YA demographics. They showcase and celebrate talent from under-represented communities through TV, film, publishing and consumer products. LFE is dedicated to ensuring that all kids & families see themselves represented on screen and to developing career opportunities for women and minorities.


Studio Projects:

Hair Love:
The heartfelt story of an African-American father learning to do his daughter’s hair for the first time. Zuri is a 7-year-old girl with exceptionally long locks. After trying to do her hair on her own without success, and with her mother unavailable to help her get ready for the big event, her father, Stephen, must undertake the task. This may seem simple enough, but soon, we realize that Zuri’s hair has a mind of its own.

Rise Up, Sing Out:
“Rise Up, Sing Out” is a series of animated, music-based shorts that are designed to provide an inspiring and empowering message about race, culture, and community, celebrating differences, and providing a framework for conversation. The 8 shorts feature music by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter.

Iyanu:
“Iyanu” is a superhero tale set in the magical kingdom of Yorubaland, which draws from Nigerian culture, music and mythology. The series follows Iyanu, a teenage orphan who spends her days studying Yoruba history and ancient arts but yearns for a normal life. One day, responding to danger, she unknowingly triggers her divine powers, the likes of which have not been seen since the Age of Wonders. Throughout her adventure, she’ll uncover the truth about her past, her parents, and her ultimate destiny to save the world.
