Dirty Work

"We believe that good films go beyond good techniques."

Dirty Work are an independent production company born in São Paulo in 2013 and created for the world. It's managed by artists from every imaginable field. They are dozens of illustrators, animators, photographers, musicians, painters, enthusiasts and sociable beings. Yes, relating is an art and working well as a team is what they value the most.
They believe that every story needs its own expression, and that’s why they like to explore all techniques and styles in their designs. They mix everything you can – or cannot – imagine! From traditional 2D to 3D with live action.

Dirty Work is not only about advertising. They were fortunate enough to win some awards like Cannes, The One Show, Effie Awards, and Clio Awards. However, they also produce entertainment and even came close to competing for the Oscars® with their first short film, Footstep on the Wind. With it, they also won important awards such as Cinequest, Flickers’ Rhode Island, Climate Change Festival, Free Speech Festival, among others. Their short was also exhibited at the UN and had its world premiere based at the Serpentine Gallery in Hyde Park, London.

Studio Projects:

Vini Jr's numbers:
From dusty fields to the world’s biggest stadiums. Vini Jr's story proves that big dreams start with the courage to get Dirty. Through falls, challenges, and unwavering resilience, he showed that effort and determination shine just as brightly as medals. After all, getting dirty is worth it.This was the very first animation created for Omo in Brazil, and the team at Dirty Work had the immense pleasure of doing it working side by side with their friends at Drog*5.

Footsteps on the Wind:
FOOTSTEPS ON THE WIND is an animated short-film based on the song “Inshallah” by Sting. The journey of Noor and her little brother Joseph illustrates the stories of over 400,000 unattended child refugees who roam without a home today. To celebrate UNHCR’s 70th anniversary, UK’s Chasing The Light Studio, led by Maya Sanbar, invited Dirty Work to co-produce a project which had as its aim portraying the lives of child refugees around the globe.Footsteps on the Wind is a movie that was born with a social ethos. All the parts involved had the aim of not only taking it to film festivals around the world, but also making it into a tool that could be used in classrooms, and which would also help groups of child refugees in therapy sessions on the topic.

The Legend of Graveborn:
In Kingdom Maker’s Halloween expansion, a curse saves Viking Ragnar from death but turns him into an undead Graveborn. Now, these frozen fiends threaten Ardendale, and only a noble house can stop them. When Dirty Work got the call, they were thrilled. Most of the team grew up watching 80s cartoon every morning, from Dungeons & Dragons to He-Man, She-Ra, Lord of the Rings, Saint Seiya, and so many others. Getting the chance to dive back into all of that through deep, rich research was a true privilege. They explored aesthetic possibilities, color treatments, light and shadow, stroke styles, and the traits of classic heroes. And, of course, they watched a ton of war films. From there, they began shaping the narrative. Together with the team at Scopely, they crafted a narrative filled with rich elements to justify October’s special expansion pack within the game.
