Cloth Cat is one of the leading animation and games companies in the UK and they’ve produced over 100 hours of content from their studio in the heart of Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. They’ve worked on a wide range of 2D and 3D animation projects, mobile games, and brand promotion for clients all over the world, and their focus is on creating characterful content for all age groups.

Their animation projects include Luo Bao Bei (International Emmy nomination 2019), Shane the Chef, Olobob Top, Cyw, The Rubbish World of Dave Spud, Toot the Tiny Tugboat and the award-winning Ethel & Ernest which was released in cinemas in 2016. Their games include Byd Cyw, Eloise Hotel, Mabinogi-Ogi and Toot’s Race, and we’ve won a number of BAFTA awards for our work on games for Toot the Tiny Tugboat and Boj. They take great pride in our creative ideas and their technical wizardry, bringing both together to provide unique solutions for their clients and making the best animation they possibly can.

Studio Projects:

Luo Bao Bei:
Luo Bao Bei is a fun and engaging 104 x 11 series for 4-8 year olds. The series centres on spirited, fun-loving 7 year old Luo Bao Bei as she explores everyday life with her friends, family and animal companions, having adventures and learning that even though we seem different on the outside, the emotions we all feel make us fundamentally the same. Cloth Cat provided a full production service for two series for Chinese producer Magic Mall, all the way from development and scripting, to full online deliveries across the world.

Dave Spud:
Now on its third series, Dave Spud is a 2D animated comedy adventure series aimed at children aged 6-11, created by Director Edward Foster and produced by Iain Harvey. The series follows the misadventures of underdog Dave Spud and his family, as they embark on some extraordinary expeditions along with the likes of Gareth the Starfish and one-eyed flea-ridden Fuzzypeg the dog! Cloth Cat provided Animation, Additional Design, Rigging, and Layout as part of the series, using CelAction throughout.

Diversity Role Models:
3 short films about the importance of building young people’s confidence to be inclusive, compassionate ‘allies against unkindness’. These were created following the launch of “Pause, Rethink, Rewind, Be Kind” for @diversityrm at Disney HQ in London! The series of three shorts were developed as part of a resource for teachers and educators to use in classrooms and home environments. Tom Lucas designed the characters and environments to suit an older audience and give the shorts a more ‘anime’ style.
