Soja

"Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a colorful Swedish animation studio?"

Soja is made up by a team of curious magic-makers and question-askers. They develop, produce and co-produce original and commissioned that make audiences feel, think and act.
The world isn't black and white, good storytelling can't be either. They work curiously, seriously and in full color to challenge existing norms, question old truths and find new perspectives, all through thought-provoking, knee-slapping, eye-opening, song-singing, in-love-falling animation.

Studio Projects:

Pantamera - tsm ᐸ3 (pantamera!!):
Every year the organisation Pantamera (Recycle More) chooses one artist to create a cover of their famous song. Soja created an anime version of the artist Bell, who flies around the world and fights for recycling. The video culminates in an epic fight in full color. In collaboration with director Jakob Arevärn and production company Lampray, Soja produced a full animation sequence as well as VFX and animation on top of live action sequences.

Adult Swim –Smiling Friends TVC:
Massive fan pressure meant Adult Swim picked up Youtube hit Smiling Friends for a full season. Soja take being silly very seriously, and brought that into creating an on-air commercial to promote the show. The brief was the stuff of dreams. ”Do something cool and fun in your style but keep the characters recognizable.” Eventually they landed on: What if the main characters Pim and Charlie were doing graffiti in 90s-neo-Tokyo style? The answer to that question is yes. It doesn’t make sense, but it also makes all kinds of sense.

Claritin – Unboring Starts With U:
When Claritin started the Outsideology Project, the goal was to inspire kids to spend more time outside. How? With rapping trees, glowing butts and full-fledged diva squirrels. A transatlantic collaboration to produce a music video mixing filmed miniature sets with animated characters, ATKPLN handled the film shoot in Dallas, and Soja handled the 2D animation in Sweden. Soja designed a crew of cute kids, the rapping tree and too many critters to count to tell the story of how outside is actually the most unboringest place you can be.
