Alkimia Animation Studio

Alkimia are a 2D animation studio located in Madrid, born out of a passion for bringing great ideas to life. It was founded in 2015 by Gastón Mass and Silvia Tapia, two directors who spend their days inventing, researching, sketching... and watching cartoons!

Alkimia are a team of artists, animators, creators, and directors who merge the traditional art of 2D animation with influences from anime and a touch of Western style. The team are passionate about telling stories through art, especially 2D animation, following each of the steps: creation of the idea, script, storyboard, concept art, character design, animatics and post-production.

They have extensive experience in sectors such as advertising, film, cinematics, and videogame trailers, as well as collaborations with prominent production companies.



Studio Projects:

-Mika and the Witch’s Mountain (Trailer and Cinematics):
Step into a world of magic and charm with “Mika and the Witch’s Mountain,” the captivating video game developed by Chibig, offering players a tranquil and wondrous experience in a fantasy realm. Alkimia Animation Studio has breathed life into this thrilling journey through their exceptional work in 2D animation, transforming each moment into a moving work of art.

-Creatures of Ava (Cinematics):
Creatures of Ava is a Spanish indie science fiction video game developed by Inverge Studio, Chibig Studio, and 11 Bit Studios. It is a beautiful work co-written by Riahanna Pratchet that takes us to another world, Ava, affected by a rare disease that diminishes the ecosystem. The protagonist, Vic, arrives in Ava to try to ‘heal’ the planet.
Alkimia Animation Studio, had the fortune to shape, animate, and direct the emotional cutscenes of the video game. They had to translate a script with a significant emotional weight into 2D animation, bringing to life and credibility to characters with very complex and deep emotions.

-Terrifier: The Artcade Game -Anime section (Trailer):
The release of this third installment in Spain comes through Selecta Visión, which has also developed a classic beat ’em up game with deep arcade roots, titled Terrifier: The Artcade Game. It has been a pleasure for Alkimia to assist thier friends at Selecta Play in creating a 2D trailer to promote their video game and adapt this project into anime. They were able to develop new creative techniques and bring to life some truly unconventional characters.
