JAM Media

''Animation with Humor and Heart''

Jam Media creates entertainment brands across all genres and platforms. JAM has created a number of award-winning TV series and short animations and continually strives for immersive stories, engaging characters and quality animations in all its productions. Since its inception in 2002, the founders John Rice, Alan Shannon and Mark Cumberton have developed methods of delivering broadcast quality animated content over traditional and emerging platforms.

In October 2012, JAM was nominated again for the BAFTA® awards for best Drama and recently won the prestigious ‘Producer of the year’ at the Cartoon Forum in Toulouse, France. In 2010, their CBBC series Roy won the Royal Television Award and was nominated for two BAFTA® awards for best Drama and best Writer.

The company also develops in-house software such as ‘Headhunter’ which allows for photographs to be superimposed onto their immersive, story driven content, creating a unique, personalised, multi-platform experience. This has been utilised to great effect in the award winning animation series Picme (104 X 5min) which has screened globally with Nickelodeon.

Studio Projects:

'Roy'

The show is filmed as a fly on the wall “mockumentary” and follows Roy, an 11-year-old cartoon boy who lives in Ballyfermot, west Dublin, with a real family and real friends. Jam Media’s ‘Roy’ picked up the Best Drama BAFTA Award, beating off stiff competition from fellow CBBC shows ‘Lost Christmas’, ‘Postcode’ and ‘Tracy Beaker Returns’, which was directed by Irish director Neasa Hardiman.

'The Wiremen'

'The Wiremen' is an award-winning short film directed by Jessica Patterson. When electricity is first brought to rural Ireland, a young girl believes this new power is in fact a faerie who has entered her home with ‘the Light’.
However as she tries to capture this magical visitor she ultimately summons the sinister creatures who haunt the surrounding countryside, the keepers of the Light.

'Tilly and Friends'

The 52 x 11 minute award-winning series encourages creativity in a world of everyday adventures. Made by JAM Media and Walker Books Productions and based on the books by Polly Dunbar, the series examines the true values of friends and the essence of real love and friendships.
Tilly’s world is one which children will be able to relate to and where friendship is at the heart of everything.

'Featherweight'

'Featherweight' is a 8' award-winning short film directed by Kayleigh Gibbons. It is a dark, humoured and expressive animation about a small family grieving the loss of a central family member. They express their grief in opposite ways, and must work out how to proceed as a new family; smaller yet stronger.
The FICC jury awarded the Don Quijote prize to Featherweight for its touching storytelling style and expressive animation dealing with the universal theme of grief.
