With their roots firmly planted in classic 2D animation, Lightstar Studios was founded in 2004 by a group of talented artists from around the world, united by a passion for this form of entertainment. Together, they bring many years of professional experience working on numerous feature films, various TV series, commercials, and corporate projects.

Over the years, Lightstar has been involved in numerous international productions, including co-productions and partnerships with channels such as Nickelodeon, Globosat, Cartoon Network, Discovery Kids, Cartoon Saloon, and Xilam. We've provided services for two Oscar nominations, won the Annecy Cristal Award, and received an Emmy Awards nomination for our own TV program, SOS Fairy Manu, in 2016.

The company has been the preferred production house for many European and American companies in recent years, gaining credibility and integrity through its founders as Brazil's leading animation studio.



Studio Projects:

-Space Jam: a New Legacy:
Space Jam: a New Legacy is an animated adventure that combines the world of basketball with the Warner Bros’ animated universe.The feature revolves around basketball legend, LeBron James, and his son Dom, who gets trapped in a digital server by an evil AI. To free his son, Lebron teams up with iconic Warner Bros.

-Monica Adventures (TV series):
Monica Teen is a teenage version of the the classic characters from “Monica’s Gang”, created by Mauricio de Sousa. In this version, Monica, Jim Five, Smudge and Maggie face typical teenage situations such as dating, complicated friendships, studying and discovering their identities. The series explore more mature themes while still maintaining the essence of the original characters.

-Rio 2096:
The movie blends elements of science fiction, drama, and romance, creating a unique narrative that spans different periods in Brazil’s history, from colonization to a dystopian future. The film follows the journey of an immortal man named Taru, who experiences various incarnations over the centuries, witnessing and participating in crucial events in the country’s history. Throughout his journey, Taru strives to reunite with his eternal love, Janaína.
