Strange Beast is a design-led animation production studio led by Zoe Muslim and Kitty Turley.

The studio is a home to artists working in vibrant 2D, stylised CG and tactile stop motion, and a proud holder of the first gender-balanced roster of directors in Europe, each with a unique style and distinctive tone of voice. Strange Beast has unique style and a spirit of inclusivity and equality. As part of their commitment, they create pathways through mentoring, portfolio reviews & careers advice to people who may face socio-economic barriers into the industry. By engaging with talent from diverse & underrepresented backgrounds, they aim to build a more inclusive network within their studio and the wider animation community.

Strange Beast are part of the PASSION group – an independent production company formed in 1987.


Studio Projects:

Frigo Cheese Heads- ‘We Are All Cheese HeadsTM’:
Director Laura Jayne Hodkin was tasked with a campaign series for Frigo Cheese Heads. This time, Laura broadens the Cheese Heads universe with a collection of hilarious vignettes that offer a further glimpse into the cheese-filled fridge world, full of playful and stringy characters.

Cheerios ‘Good Starts’:
Parallel Teeth and Caitlin McCarthy collaborated to direct a bright and flowing campaign for Cheerios. The goodness in the cereal goes on a journey being shared by friends and family, starting a chain reaction of happiness and smiles. The hand drawn animation uses bold block colours textured to create a sense of depth to the world. Surprising but seamless transitions give the films dynamic energy, moving from shot to shot us from shot to shot with humour and joy.

Novavax :
Sacha Beeley directs a series of sporting 2D vignettes for Novavax. Together, the football and basketball scenes show how sports fans, just like the Novavax COVID vaccine, are "built different"
