Job Description
Studio Psycho are looking for STORYBOARD ARTISTS to help on their indie animation series Heathens!
Style they´re looking for:
- Cinematic, sincere, and action-anime-esque with an emphasis on strong expressions, perspective and posing/draftsmanship.
- The show leans into the Action & Dark Fantasy genre.
- Not looking for comedy boards, but ones with cinematic, emotional gravitas appropriate to the story it is telling.
- Mainly humanoid designs. Creature drawing ability is a plus.
Tasks:
- Create assigned storyboard sequences that are typically 2-4 pages/1-3 minutes long each (animatic-wise), with consideration for the pipelines around them (BG, Animation, Visdev etc).
- Ask questions & communicate with Storyboard Lead & Director to ensure revision notes, style, tone and character mannerisms and script/story adaptations are elevated and clearly hit in a timely manner.
Software: Toon Boom Storyboard Pro. Blender (camera basics)
Extra Notes:
- Artists who are primarily cinematic/character-focused + secondarily action-focused, with animatic experience, are highly prioritised.
- Basic blender experience is preferred but not needed. We can train you up on this side.

Requirements
- Strong understanding of art fundamentals such as: human anatomy, gesture drawing, perspective, general draftsmanship etc.
- Strong grasp of storyboard fundamentals such as: rule of thirds, 180 degree rule, screen direction, clarity of poses, understanding of focal length, scene rhythm, shot flow/buildup/payoff, FG-MG-BG, transitions etc.
- Familiarity with style mimicking - you will be required to match the Heathens art style at least proportionally and expression-wise as best as possible. You will need to match the cinematic storyboarding style of Heathens as well.
- Prior industry experience is preferred but not needed. Portfolio is king!
- Please be 18+ only!
