Heart Horse Games are a tiny indie studio crafting cute animal games for people who love animals as much as they do.
They”re looking for a 2D Character Artist & Animator to create charming cat characters and critter NPCs for a beautiful and whimsical indie platformer and collecting game set throughout the known – and unknown – universe.
The Role
They are seeking an artist to work on defining their visual tone, illustrate, and add animations for the game.
- General: Create 2D assets for the game, characters, and background elements.
- Animation: Deliver well-optimized but visually satisfying 2D platformer animation sets to help players become endeared to their cats.
- Shape the unique aesthetic – think The Last Unicorn: ethereal, mysterious, and nostalgic rather than traditional “cartoony.”
They are offering a fully paid freelance position with competitive rates based on your experience, with the potential for long-term collaboration in the form of post-launch content updates and future projects!

Requirements
- Technical proficiency: Ability to deliver high-impact visuals while maintaining low frame counts for optimized mobile workflows.
- Stylistic range: Expertise in stylized, charming, and elegant character art.
- Indie development experience: Comfortable working with a small team. You will receive art direction but will be expected to take responsibility for delivering the art to a high standard.
- Engine experience in Unity is a plus!
