About the course

The goals of the course are to learn the principles of character motion mechanics, learn how to work with its movement in space and create dynamic scenes with chases or battles. We’ll also work on conveying the weight and talk about animated character design and expressive positions.

After the course

After the course, students become semi-professional animators who know how to work with characters and can continue mastering their skills at the Acting Course. Graduates also create demo reels with finished battle scenes and various movements of heroes which will help them to get a job in 2D animation studios.

  1. Walk. Teach the character to walk.
  2. Character design. Continue to animate the gait.
  3. Posing. Continue to animate the gait.
  4. Model sheet. Sketching for a dynamic shot.

  • Learn to animate one of the most difficult assignments in the course - a character's cyclic gait. With this assignment you will understand how and why a person moves. How to track design and how important it is to understand character design.

  1. Dynamic shot.
  2. Storyboard and angles. We work out the character’s movement, draw the keys.
  3. Perspective. How to use the perspective.
  4. Layout. Character drawing.

  • Learn how to work on a complex and spectacular scene. Understand the principles of movement in perspective, as well as working with references. This will be one of the most important works in your portfolio.

  1. Weight lifting. We add overlaps and polish the character’s arcs in motion.
  2. Rhythm. We trace the arches and transfer the design. Create a believable weight lifting scene that teaches you how to work with the world around your character
  3. Preparing a demo reel.
