OPEN CALL: Storyboard Artists & Animatic Editors 🌊
An exciting sci-fi/fantasy indie animation pilot created for young adult audiences is looking for potential Storyboard Artists and an Animatic Editor to join an international Australian/Canadian team, who have experiences on Hazbin Hotel, The Amazing Digital Circus, and Murder Drones. Paid gig!
📌 Residency Requirement
For these roles, this project is only seeking applicants who reside in Australia, preferably in the state of Victoria. This is due to project‑specific funding and contracting requirements.
Storyboard Artists should be able to draw and pose both human and stylised, fantastical characters, pivoting between slow, emotional beats and dynamic action sequences. The ideal candidate understands board and editorial workflow, is able to respond to story and creative notes, and collaborates well with directors and production.
This project is looking for Storyboard Artists with:
– Toon Boom Storyboard Pro proficiency
– Ability to respond to and address creative director notes
– A showreel that demonstrates clear boards for both intimate/emotional and dynamic/action scenes
Animatic Editors should have a strong understanding of timing, pacing, staging, and visual storytelling, with the ability to turn storyboards into clear and engaging animatics. You should be comfortable working with dialogue, sound effects, music, and temporary audio to shape the rhythm and emotional flow of a scene. The ideal candidate can identify opportunities to improve clarity, comedic timing, performance, and continuity, while responding to creative notes and collaborating closely with directors and storyboard artists. Adobe Premiere Pro preferred.
For Animatic Editors:
– Adobe Premiere Pro proficiency
– Comfortable working with dialogue, sound effects, music, and temporary audio to shape the rhythm and emotional flow of a scene
– A showreel that demonstrates both intimate/emotional and dynamic/action scenes
Nice to have:
– Experience with stylised or narrative animation
– Interest in sci‑fi or fantasy storytelling
