About the course

The purpose of the course is to introduce students to animation terms and techniques, teach them to use 12 principles of animation as well as to feel timing and spacing.

During the course you will work on the size of a character, special effects and composition to create professional animation. The focus will be on doing practical tasks that will allow you to acquire all the necessary knowledge.

The course starts with classical exercises for beginners, however, tasks become more challenging after the first month and students can already create dynamic scenes with simple characters.

After the course

You will be ready for complex dynamic battle animations and work on perspective, after you’ve completed the course yas well as studying the next "Mechanics of Movement" course.

  1. Start. Learn how to make a bouncing ball.
  2. The whip principle. Add a tail to the ball.
  3. The jump of a pillow. Learn how to animate a moving character.
  4. Pendulum. Learn to swing the mass.

  • You'll be delving into the TVpaint interface, getting hands-on experience with animation principles, creating your initial animations, and establishing a sturdy groundwork for upcoming courses.

  1. Work on a scene. Learn how to animate a punch.
  2. Animation techniques. Learn the benefits of different styles. We continue to work on the dynamic movement of the pillow.
  3. Working with the camera. Learn how to turn the character in space during the movement.
  4. Finalising the project.

  • You'll be diving into various animation techniques and discovering the benefits of different styles. You'll also acquire the skills to effectively depict character rotations and gain comprehensive knowledge about working with perspective.

  2. Special effects. Adding details to the character.
  3. Compositing. Polishing the character.
  4. Creating a demo reel.

  • You'll acquire the know-how to create a seamless 360° character rotation while maintaining accurate proportions. Additionally, you'll delve into the realm of special effects and compositing techniques.
