Job Description
To all fellow rough animators and clean-up artists, the team behind Migratory are looking for extra hands to help finishing their student thesis!
Migratory is a 5 1/2-minute animated documentary about two pigeons traveling to different places in L.A. and reflecting on their childhoods after immigrating to the U.S. They are looking for both Rough Animators and Clean-Up Artists to help out.
The team have spent several months working on pre-production for the film and as they approach the start of production in the new year, they realize that they will need some extra help from rough animators and clean-up artists in order to finish the film fully by May.
General Information:
- Both positions will be paid but PLEASE NOTE: This is a student film with a modest budget. Fundraising efforts will continue into February, so flat rates will be finalized then.
- They are looking for 2 additional 2D-rough animators and 1 additional clean-up artist.
- They are open for most payment options and if you are selected, we will pay through your preferred option.
- Successful applicants should have their own Toon Boom Harmony license and knowledge of program is preferred. All animation for the film will be done using Harmony.
- The workload will be based on your availability and assigned shots.
- Migratory’s directors and producer work in the PST time zone but we are flexible with meeting times.
- All communications and work assigned will be through Discord (yippee)!
- Production will last from January 2026 to April 2026.
Rough Animator Information:
- They are looking for animators with a solid understanding of maintaining forms, easing in and out, and solid drawings.
- Animation will be done in 3 fps.
- Mainly human animation (but there might be opportunities to draw birds!)
- ~7 shots of animation
- Current Flat Rate: $400
Clean-Up Artist Information:
- They are looking for clean-up artists who can clean up rough animation and keep a consistent line art style to the film.
- ~10 shots of animation
- Current Flat Rate: $125

Requirements
- Solid understanding of maintaining forms, easing in and out, and solid drawings.
- Have your own Toon Boom Harmony license, and experience using the program.
- For rough animator: comfortable drawing human animation (and birds!), and comfortable animating in 3 fps.
- For clean-up artists: able to clean up rough animation and keep a consistent line art style to the film.
- Have Discord for communication.
