Job Description

Studio Meala are hiring! They’re looking for 2D Animators for projects across various softwares!🎨

As an Animator you are responsible for delivering hand drawn/rigged animation dependant on each project software’s respective pipeline.

Candidates should have strong knowledge of productions applied for’s respective software, working in a studio setting, communicating effectively and adhering to a schedule. These roles can be remote (within the Republic of Ireland) or based in our Studio hubs. Please only apply for projects that suit your availability and if you hold a valid European work permit to avoid disappointment.

Project Application Details 

PROJECT 01 (Captain Onion’s Buoyant Academy for Wayward Youth)

  • Software: ToonBoom Harmony
  • Animation Style: 2D Rigged
  • Approx Start Date: March 2026
  • Approx End Date: May 2027
  • General Info: 50 x 11 minute animated series being co-produced with ALT Animation and Wild Child Animation (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32875594/)

PROJECT 02 (To Be Announced)

  • Software: TVPaint 11
  • Animation Style: 2D Hand Drawn
  • Approx Start Date: Mid March – Mid April 2026 (Staggered start dates)
  • Approx End Date: Late May – Mid June 2026 (Staggered end dates)
  • General Info: Unannounced adult animation project being worked on for Green Street Pictures and Adult Swim. They will also seek at least one 2D Animator who also has basic 3D Animation experience with Blender.

PROJECT 03 (Tales Of Terror)

  • Software: Blender 
  • Animation Style: 2D Hand Drawn – Grease Pencil
  • Approx Start Date: March – April 2026 (Staggered start dates)
  • Approx End Date: Late May – Early July 2026 (Staggered end dates)
  • General Info: 3 x 9 minute episodes for the animated series being co-produced with Dreamlogic Studios and Melusine Studio (http://www.dreamlogic.ie/tales-of-terror)

Requirements

  • 2 + years studio experience in an animation role essential.
  • Experience in prospective software is essential EXCEPT Blender, training to be provided for Grease Pencil pipeline.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience/know-how for working on limited animation and efficiently tailoring their approach where necessary.

This term, our Short Film Creation course takes on its biggest challenge yet: animating a Critical Role teaser trailer. Students will collaborate as a full production team—animators, artists, and composers—building the project from concept to final cut. It’s fandom, craft, and industry-level storytelling all in one epic experience.
